Certificate for SENCOs in early years and childminders (CERTSEY)

For private, voluntary and independent (PVI) settings

This is a level 3 qualification approved by the Department for Education (DfE). Essex County Council runs it along with Eastern Partnership UK (SEND). It is for SENCOs in early years PVI settings and childminders to give you the knowledge and skills to fulfil your role. Full details of the programme are on the Eastern Partnership website.

There are two ways to do this course. The blended version combines independent online learning and attendance at two workshops. The practical activities will give you confidence in how to achieve the very best practice. You will have an exciting portfolio of work which will be valuable in your role after the course. There is also an online only version of this course if you prefer.

For both versions you can use your laptop, tablet or phone to do the online tasks.

Course length

There are two cohorts each year:

  • autumn, October to March
  • spring, February to July

Each cohort will have two workshops from 10am to 1pm for the duration of the course.

Special Educational Needs Coordinators working in private, voluntary and independent (PVI) early years settings and childminders.

Venue and date

The venue and date will be confirmed. But the course is likely to be at County Hall in Chelmsford.
