Poppins Bursary
Adult Community Learning Essex fully funded early years training opportunities
ACL Essex deliver fully funded training courses to support people who want to join the early years sector. The adult education provider will also help current employees to complete training and gain qualifications to progress their career. The courses are offered as part of Essex County Council’s new £1.4 million Poppins Bursary.
ACL Essex also supports those who want to start a childminding business. Setting up as a childminder includes gaining a Level 3 Award in preparing to work in home-based childcare, a paediatric first aid certificate and a DBS check.
For people new to the sector, ACL Essex will offer a range of ways to begin their career. Apprenticeships at Levels 2-5 will be available, supporting people to enter early years settings, gain experience and earn a salary at the same time. For those who are not eligible for an apprenticeship but want to start a career in the sector, ACL Essex will offer Level 2-5 diplomas in early years.
In Summer 2024, ACL Essex will also be offering a ‘Gateway to Childcare’ programme. This course will provide the opportunity to complete a Level 2 qualification in early years.
