Only one in 10 children aged 2 to 4 are active for three or more hours a day. The Department of Health has published anĀ infographic based on the Chief Medical Officer's (CMO's) guidelines to help early years practitioners, health visitors and doctors to speak with parents about the importance of young children being active.

The UK CMO recommends that young children are active for at least three hours spread through the day. This can include crawling, walking, jumping and messy play.
