Find out about support for parents/carers of autistic children

Autism Central's peer education programme is a peer to peer support programme that offers support to parents/carers and personal assistants of autistic children and people via:

  • The Autism Central website which has a huge range of information and guidance which you can signpost parents and carers to
  • Weekly online group sessions
  • One to one support calls for more personal support

This is an all age, free service and children do not need to have a diagnosis to access the service.

Good beginnings course

A face to face course for parents and carers of children aged 5 or under, who have autism, whether diagnosed or not, or social communication needs.

This course covers:

  • understanding autism
  • communication
  • play
  • sensory processing
  • behaviour is communication
  • eating, sleeping and toileting
  • managing anxiety
