British values

The education inspection framework requires settings to promote 'fundamental British values'. They are:

• democracy
• the rule of law
• individual liberty
• mutual respect
• tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

You must promote fundamental British values by:

• following the early years foundation stage (EYFS) 
• meeting the duties of the Equality Act 2010

Your Equality Named Coordinators (ENCOs) should help you to follow these values.
