The overwhelming evidence from research shows that high quality early learning and care is essential to give children the best start they need to achieve better social, emotional and cognitive abilities. Conversely poor quality provision does not support children's learning and development in the long term.
The Essex County Council Quality Improvement team for the entire private, voluntary and independent (PVI) sector and the maintained sector covers childminders, out of school (OOS) provision, preschools, day nurseries, nursery schools and nursery classes in infant and primary schools.
