FEEE2 - disadvantaged families
2-year-old funding for disadvantaged families
Some families who receive additional government support will be able to claim 15 hours FEEE per week, for 38 weeks per year, from the term after the child's 2nd birthday.
See the below table for confirmation of the earliest start dates:
Child's 2nd birthday |
Term funding begins |

1 September - 31 December | Spring | 1 January - 31 March |
Parents must have an approved eligibility code, starting TYF881, from Essex County Council (ECC) prior to starting a claim.
To view the full criteria and apply for 2 year old funding, direct the parents to the ECC website Funded childcare for 2-year-olds | Essex County Council.
Alternatively you can submit an assisted application for the family in the Provider Portal, for example, if they do not have access to the internet, or require additional help.
Once approved, parents will be given and eligibility code and and eligibility start date.
This date is the earliest they can begin your funding claim.
You will need the parent to sign and return a PAF and complete the Placement Notification in the Provider Portal for the child.
Please note: 2-year-old-funding cannot be shared between childcare providers and should be used at one setting only.
